Frequently Asked Questions

In case you were wondering...

When you've been producing videos as long as we have, there are some question you hear fairly often. Here are some of those questions. Got a question that's not on the list? Just head over to our contact us page and ask!

Q: My friend/family member has a camcorder. Couldn't I just have them tape my event?
A: We hear this question a lot, especially at expos and trade shows. The bottom line is that there really is no comparison between professional production and a friend. We come with several cameras, we use top-notch audio, and we've got experience, for starters.

We've written an entire article on what you should really consider if you're thinking about skipping a professional production. It's a great read - check it out here. We also have an article here about picking the right video producer.

Q: What sort of experience do you have?
A: Our experience is what sets us apart! We have over 12 years experience in professional video prodution. Jim has directed programming for a regional Televison program, and his work has been on several major television networks. Additionally, much of that time has been spent with an emphasis on event production, so if you need a videographer for your event, you're getting the best!

Q: What happens if our event is postponed or cancelled? Can I reschedule?
A: Absolutely! So long as you give us at least a 30 day notice, we'll work with you to reschedule your event. If your event is cancelled and we have at least 30 days notice, we will give you a voucher good for the amount you've put down towards the project so far, which you will be allowed to apply towards any future project.

Q: How far will you travel, and what do you charge?
A: We'll travel anywhere worldwide to film your event. As far as travelling expenses go, some videographers like to fleece people for travel. We don't do that. If you're within 120 miles of Saint Cloud, there is absolutely no charge for travel. If you are beyond that distance, we literally only charge what it costs us to come out, never a penny more.

Q: What will my final product look like?
A: A lot of this depends on your order. For most wedding and event videos, we typically shoot a "journalistic style" video, which is mostly chronological and runs between 45 and 90 minutes, depending on the event length. Some packages also include an artistic style video, which is a presentation of the best parts of your wedding or event, and usually runs anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes, again, depending a lot on your input and the event itself.

Q: I can't afford to spend so much all in one burst, but I really want a great video. What can I do?
A: Here at On a Roll Video, we understand that not everyone has the ability to pay a large chunk of cash at once. We want everyone to be able to have a great video, so we have some creative options. First, absolutely everyone has the option to make payments for their project. With this option, we hold your finished project and you can make monthly payments until you pay it off. If you would like to have your video sooner, we have been known in special situations to extend credit. For more details on this, contact us.

Q: Your phone number didn't work for a while, then it changed. What's the deal?
A: We apologize if you tried to contact us recently, and didn't get through, or left a message that went unanswered. Our phone company was experiencing problems, and failing to deliver service. We decided that to better serve you, we would switch to a new carrier. If you had our old number in your phone book, please update it with the number at the top of this page.
